Gyöngyi Kovacs is the Erkko Professor in Humanitarian Logistics at the Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki, Finland. She is a founding editor of the Journal of Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and has also edited a book on Relief Supply Chain Management. She was former (founding) director and board member of the Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Research Institute (HUMLOG Institute) and has been a European regional editor of the International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management 2008-2013. In 2007 she received her Doctor of Science (Economics and Business Administration) in Business Economics from the Hanken School of Economics, Finland. Gyöngyi has a broad experience in teaching in many aspect of supply chain management ranging from master courses and PHD courses.
Gyöngyi does research on topics such as Humanitarian logistics, Sustainable supply chain, Disaster relief, Disaster management and preparedness, Development aid, Industrial ecology and Corporate responsibility.
Over the last years her articles were published in a number of premier outlets including: Supply Chain Management, Journal of Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Journal of Business Logistics, International journal of physical distribution & logistics management, International journal of production economics, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction.
